Ancient Astronauts: Gods From The Sky

The idea that aliens may have visited our planet at some time in the distant past, and were possibly involved in the creation of the human species, is not a new one.

Some years before Zecharia Sitchin published his work, The Twelfth Planet, in which he postulated that earth had been visited in ancient times by an alien race known as the Anunnaki, Swiss adventurer and author, Erich von Daniken, published a book called Chariots Of The Gods, in which he also presented evidence that alien visitation had occurred at some point in ancient history.

As part of his vast body of evidence, Von Daniken cited the Egyptian Pyramids, the Sphinx, Stonehenge and the mysterious Nazca Lines in Peru (photo left) as tell-tale signs of alien visitation, the latter being a series of strange geoglyphs carved into the face of a high desert plateau in the Peruvian Andes, some of which can only be deciphered from the air.

Tales of the ‘gods’ coming down from the sky are of course common to many indigenous cultures, and tend to support Von Daniken’s theory that aliens might have visited earth in the past.
