Poltergeists - they may scare you witless, but no one has yet been seriously harmed or killed by a poltergeist

POLTERGEISTS

Doors slamming shut in the middle of the night. Furniture moving around, all by itself. Walls, ceilings, floorboards, all creaking and rattling as if an earthquake is shaking them.

Not to mention the kitchen knife hurtling towards you, sharp end first!

If any of these scary phenomena occur in your home, know that you almost certainly share your accommodation with a poltergeist, generally understood to be a manifestation of repressed mental or psychic energy.

But as frightening as these phenomena can undoubtedly be, and despite movies like Carrie or The Amityville Horror, or indeed, Poltergeist, you can rest assured that no one has ever actually died as a result of encountering a poltergeist.

They might well scare you witless, but it seems they won’t kill you, so there’s no excuse for failing to confront the poltergeist with your camera and posting the results here … if you dare!!!

I have had personal experience of poltergeist phenomena on many occasions during my life- I shall mention briefly two of the worst incidents- when I was a boy, my family were going through a particularly difficult time, caused by my father, Anthony- (my father, being a follower of Aleister Crowley)- and there was a feeling of dread and oppression in our family home- this got so bad in the end, it culminated in a full poltergeistal attack- witnessed by my mother, my bother, and myself- light bulbs flew from their sockets, and religious paintings (my mother was a talented artist) leapt off the wall- with no damage to the picture wire, and the picture hooks were still in place! A mist also began to slowly fill the living room (which seemed to be the epicentre of the attack)and audible moans and groans were heard by all three of us present. We fled the house, (which was built five years earlier) only returning the next day with a family friend. My mother later had the house blessed and spiritually cleansed by a sympathetic anglican vicar- who commented that he could feel the “presence of evil in the house.” My father was not present at the time of these events, but I have no doubt he was responsible for their cause- a short while later he left our lives for good. So whether he invoked and unleashed negative forces against us- his family-or his ill-will manifested pychically, and this exhibited as a poltergeist- I am unable to say, although, as I have stated, I believe to this day that he was responsible. Minor happenings have taken place since. The second incident took place three years ago- this time I had objects thrown at me whilst staying with my mother at her appartment (not the house of the prior event) and, on two seperate occasions was physically attacked- resulting in large scratches appearing in full view of my mother- who witnessed the attack. So I can testify to the reality of poltergeists- believe as you will.
